Rounds 3 and 4 of the 750 motor club Locost championship, with an overflowing field of 47 cars Matt Graux showed great pace right from the start putting in great consistent times throughout the Friday test day he continued form on Saturday morning by putting his car on pole position for the first time in Locost nearly 2 tenths clear of the rest of the field. New recruit to the TSR team Jack Coveney showed his pace even after a difficult time on Friday with engine problems to qualify 3rd, equal fastest with second. Other TSR drivers Ben Powney, Tim Neat and Tom Gadd also placed within the top 15 which was covered by just 7 tenths of a second. Karl Ruijsenaars had a difficult day after missing the Friday test and found qualifying a challenge but improved throughout and was 23rd overall still a great effort while learning the track and trying to dial the car into the circuit. Tom Robinson had an unfortunate and Premature end to his day after a camshaft failure in qualifying meant he couldn't continue but there will be more to come later in the season.
With Such a large field of Locost the races were divided into 3 with each driver competing in 2. Race One was a classic Locost race from start to finish with close racing and great battles through out, however TSR drivers Ben Powney and Jack Coveney came through to finish 1st and 2nd respectively at the end showing great class and team work to over come the opposition, with Tim Neat and Tom Gadd finishing 6th and 9th after a very tight battle for the top 10 positions. Karl had a difficult race still struggling with suspension issues but put in a solid performance keeping the car in one piece and on track to finish 17th.
Race 2 saw the dominance of Ben Powney as he drove away from the rest of the field to win by nearly 6 seconds as they battled it out for the remaining places behind saw some great battles which saw Matt and Jack finish 5th and 7th with 2 more great results and solid points finishes. as well as Matt taking the fastest lap proving his pace further, that first win will come soon I'm sure.
With Ben and Jack completing there day in the first 2 races it was now down to Tim Neat, Tom Gadd, Matt Graux and Karl Ruijsenaars to compete in the final Locost race of the day for there 4th round in the championship. They all put on a fantastic show and a great way to end the day with yet more close battles great moves and intelligent driving Tim, Tom and Matt finished 3rd, 4th and 6th respectively. and Karl doing another good job of bringing and struggling car home to finish his second race of the day 15th with much improvement planned before our next race at croft in 4 weeks time.
